God finally. We finally got a defensive coordinator. Kirby Smart?!?!? No. Will Muschamp?!?!? No. It’s Lane Kiffin!!! Just kidding. Todd Grantham is the new DC. He is currently coaching one of the best Defensive Lines in the NFL-the Cowboys-in the playoffs. He was the defensive coordinator for the Browns from 2005-07, where he failed badly. Here is his full coaching resume.
• 1990-95: Virginia Tech, starting as administrative assistant and finishing as defensive-line coach

• 1996-98: Michigan State, defensive line coach (also assistant head coach in 1998)

• 1999-2001: Indianapolis Colts, defensive line coach

• 2002-04: Houston Texans, defensive line coach

• 2005-07: Cleveland Browns, defensive coordinator

• 2008-09: Dallas Cowboys, defensive line coach

I guess Lane Kiffin was right when he said that he would never lose to Georgia while he was the coach at Tennessee. I just don’t get why he keeps getting hired by big names. I mean, what has he proven?
Offensive Coordinator for a team that plays with Washington, Washington State, Arizona and Arizona State sucked at the time, Stanford was awful and UCLA hasn’t been good in a LONG time. But somehow the Raiders thought that they could get a young, up and coming coach to lead the organization. Yeah, that worked. 5-15 with the Raiders and got fired half way through the season. That was enough for Tennessee to take the same route that Oakland took. He came and dominated with a 7-6 record and a blowout loss in a December bowl game. Ahh it must have been an easy decision for USC to pick him as there new Head Coach after Pete Carroll left.

I sometimes wonder how much it would suck to be a Tech fan, and I realized how much on January 5, 2010. The mediocre Georgia Basketball Team beats them when Tech was ranked number 17. That same night their football team lost to a 2 loss Iowa team that finished 2nd in the Big 10 and probably were the third best team in the conference. I noticed two things that night. Well, first, Tech sucks. But second I noticed that the best Tech team in 10 years could not beat the worst Georgia team in 10 years. Every time that a Tech fan says something about how great they are, or how bad we are, just say that. Or you could take the easier path and just punch him in the face. I approve of both.

I’d also like to congratulate Sundiata Gaines on a his great shot to beat the LeBron’s last night and I’d like to say to Yata and every single Georgia fan, GO DAWGS!!!

Georgia vs. Texas A&M, other thoughts

The game certainly won’t be remembered as a game that Georgia dominated, regardless of the score. Texas A&M out-gained our beloved Dawgs 471 to 366. The Aggies ran 92 plays to our 68. Jerrod Johnson killed us, as we all expected him too, and yet we won by 24. To me, being at the game, it seemed as if we were substituting at will as we usually do, and it looked like A&M was constantly using the same players in all sorts of different packages. The talent of the depth chart certainly showed in the second half. I’m very happy that Joe and all of the other Seniors along with Reshad and Rennie got a win in their last game.

I will say that A&M’s band and Yell Leaders were very cool. The Yell Leaders were completely different and got the whole crowd into the game at certain points. Their band made ours look like a high school band both before the game and at halftime. It was sad.

A couple of days ago a friend of mine who is a Tennessee sent me an email about a run in he had with a Georgia fan. Here it is.

“This guy at the varsity wearing a UGA hat walked by me and said to his friend that Tennessee was for losers after looking at my shirt. I told him that he was a loser and asked him what bowl did UGA get compared to Tennessee. He didn’t respond. Go Vols!!!”

I replied:

“Wow Spencer. Our crappy season ends with 8 wins, a win over #7 who’s also our biggest rival, a blowout win in the bowl, and our QB (everyone said he sucked because all they did was look at the picks) came up one TD shy of the school record for passing TD’s. And don’t say “well that’s because all your other QB’s sucked.” No. They didn’t. The 3 QB’s tied for that record are DJ Shockley (One year as starter: SEC Champ. Win. Leads us to Sugar Bowl). Matthew Stafford (Number 1 overall draft pick) David Greene (Most wins by starting QB in NCAA History until Colt McCoy broke it. I may point out McCoy played after they switched to 12 game seasons from 11 game seasons, in which Greene played. Oh yeah, he actually beat Florida, unlike Peyton.). Our losses were to a team that was one time #5 at one point(OK State), a team that was #4 at one point(LSU. Oh yeah and we got hosed in that game too. The refs admitted it too.) A team that was #1 the whole season(Florida) a crappy Kentucky team, and Tennessee. Ya’ll didn’t beat us cuz you were SOOOO much better than us. You beat us because we do that every time we play AT Tenn. We lay an egg. We go out there flat. So how did Tennessee’s crappy season work out? Losing record (5-7) with losses to Georgia, Wyoming, UCLA, South Carolina, Bama, Auburn, and a 4 point win over Northern Illinois at home, a fired coach, and fans sending your starting QB death threats. How’d your bowl game go last year? Oh… Yeah… You weren’t bowl eligible because you lost to WYOMING AT HOME!!! GO FREAKING DAWGS!!!! Have fun with VT HAHAHAHA!!! Seriously I’m gonna be Mad if u lose to an ACC team so they start talking. Seriously. Don’t embarrass us. Please.”

Did anyone see any of the Temple UCLA game? If you didn’t, Temple totally blew any chance at winning their 1st bowl game in 100 years. In the first half they had the look of a very very confident, well coached, good football team. In the second half, they looked like freaking North Texas and Eastern Michigan all wrapped up in one team. It was hard to watch. Almost as hard to watch THE WHOLE Georgia at Tennessee game every time that we play up there.

To wrap my first post up, I would like to congratulate every single Dawg that will not be on the team next year-transfers, seniors, juniors leaving early-for a wonderful season for the Bulldog Nation. GO DAWGS and happy holidays!!!
